After Care Instructions for Chemical Services
I have given many a client after care instructions after a perm only to have a phone call the next day asking "when
can I shampoo my hair again?", or "what did you say about getting into our hot tub?" I never mind the calls but I
thought it would be nice if I had a place where one could just look up that information when needed. So here it is with
out further ado my after care instructions page for chemical services.
After Care Instructions for Perms
These instructions are for after the initial perming of your hair. After the waiting times are up you may shampoo
regularly for your hair type.
- Wait 48-72 hours before shampooing your hair. You may wet your hair down with a spray bottle.
- Do not stand under a shower head for 48 hours.
- Avoid getting into a swimming pool or hot tub for 7 days.
- Do not brush or pull hair for 24-48 hours.
- Avoid coloring your hair for 3 to 7 days.
These instructions are for maintaining your perm.
- Use a pick or wide tooth comb when hair is wet to untangle hair.
- The more you brush or run your fingers through your hair the bigger your hair will become. When you
brush or run your finger through your hair you seperate the curl and will create big hair.
- Use a spray gel. foaming hair mousse, or some curl fixitive to keep curl tight and defined.
- Always condition hair.
After Care Instructions for Chemically Straightened Hair
These instructions are for after the intial chemical straightening of your hair. After the waiting times are up you may
shamppp regularly for your hair type.
- Wait 72 hours befoe shampooing your hair. Do not wet your hair for at least 48 hours.
- Avoid getting into a swimming pool or hot tub for 7 days.
- Avoid Coloring your hair for 2weeks-1month.
These instructions are for maintaing your chemically straightened hair.
- Use smoothing lotion or oil after every shampoo (at least).
- Always condition hair, preferably with a smoothing shampoo.
